A windy warm Friday on the last day of our water year in the valley.
May you find the fortune at the end of your rainbow this weekend.

If you visit Kouga dam now, you will be met with a rotten egg smell. This is due to temperature stratification. Water devides into different temperature levels. In summer the upperpart is warmer and lighter with the bottom layer being oxygen poor with lots of organic material. When the season changes, the water starts to mix and the reaction of the oxygen poor water and organic material creates the smell. It is called "turnover".
